AFCI & GFCI Outlet Installation MN: Electrical Safety Upgrades
Invisible Protection
Electricity is dangerous. You can't see an arc fault starting inside a wall, and you can't feel a ground fault until it shocks you. Modern protection devices stop these hazards milliseconds before they cause harm.
Old breakers only trip if you overload them (like plugging in two space heaters). Modern Dual Function breakers contain a tiny computer that constantly monitors the current signature, differentiating between a running vacuum and a sparking wire.
Two Types of Safety
We retrofit homes with "Combo" devices that provide both types of required protection.
AFCI (Arc Fault)
Prevents Fires. Detects dangerous electrical arcing (sparking) caused by loose connections, screws driven into wires, or frayed cords. Required in bedrooms, living rooms, and most general areas.
GFCI (Ground Fault)
Prevents Shock. Detects if electricity is leaking (like through water or a person) and cuts power instantly. Essential for kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors.
Dual Function
The Best of Both. We install Dual Function (df) breakers that combine AFCI and GFCI protection into a single unit, bringing your entire 1980s circuit up to 2026 code standards.
Standard vs. Modern Protection
Standard Breaker
- Protection: Overload only (Thermal/Magnetic).
- Arcing: Ignored. Will let a wire spark until it burns.
- Shock: Ignored. Will electrocute until main trips.
Dual Function Retrofit
- Protection: Overload + Arc + Ground Fault.
- Intelligence: LED diagnostic indicators show why it tripped.
- Safety: Tamper Resistant shutters on outlets protect kids.
Upgrade Your Safety
